About The Same Time

Have you ever noticed that the stars start to appear
When evening darkness draws nigh and night is here?
And about that same time, the lights go on in every place of life.
For home loving ones, this brings a peaceful quiet to husband, kids and wife.

The Overview

My mind is racing at a tremendous rate of speed
Through yesterday, today, headlong to where I cannot see.
Am I hoping to put it all together somehow,
To form some picture that will clarify the now?

Once You Are Gone

Once you’re gone, it’s a sad commentary to even admit
Except for a few or special accomplishments
Your presence isn’t very missed.  We can’t accept this is the way
It always happens – it never fails. We cannot stay.

Your Advice

Do you wait until you’re asked or is it a steady flow?
There are all sorts of advice around just anywhere you go.
Some people really have something to offer, but you know,
With some, it comes cheap – maybe that’s what it’s worth. So

Like a Child

The simplistic approach of the child is one we absolutely adore:
The innocent and trusting soul we used to be so long before,
When a faith lived there in the accepting heart of the child.
Laughter echoed all around and joy abounded in that radiant smile.

Hate And Darkness Walk Together

As love and light walk together – where you see one, you see the other –
So go hate and darkness. They walk together, for they represent one another.
Should there ever be any doubt, look to their fruits. That tells the story!
No artificial sham can conceal the truth; that’s mandatory.

How Does Love Live?

To some species of life we can not say.
Certainly our pets, and even wild animals display
Generous amounts of affection, an affirmation
Of kindly emotions to others, perhaps from the time of creation.

I’m sure we all have watched this ritual on display:
Human emotion as it radiates to the recipients of praise.
The intensity expresses directly the enthusiasm of those
Who are expressing a sentiment they want to bestow.

Don’t Take This Life Lightly

Self preservation is a natural and instinctive law of life. We each are imbued
With this natural law of survival – No other way can it be construed!
Each soul treasures its earthly habitat and we relate to our life and body
As our earthly home through this life’s duration, enjoying ourselves most broadly.

Thorn Shy

Are you one who shuns the roses because of all their thorns?
Such a shame! If you only knew how to avoid getting torn.
It’s like winding through life’s garden as a duty,
Shying from the sharper edges that seem to pierce the beauty.

You Can Only See

You can only see exactly where you’re going
When you can see exactly where you’ve been, then knowing
Where you got off track – were only spinning your wheels –
So you can become aware of and thus avoid such futile deals.

When My Wall Clock Chimes

I hear that lovely tune and I know just which hour
Is announcing itself. Such cheery chimes – a soft and gentle power.
To me, there is something special about this wall clock.
It makes me feel that as long as it sounds time will not stop.

Where The Sky Meets The Edges

This view is best observed from the air or from a mountain top
Or from the plains where the land goes on forever and never stops –
Or so it seems! It stretches out so spacious and so endless.
The deserts of this earth are stretched out so defenseless,

Young at Heart

What young person wastes their youth worrying about growing old?
Besides, when we’re young, we’ll never ever on earth grow old.
In our youthful dreams, we will be beautiful and agile forever,
And you know what? None of us will age at all, not ever.

Beyond Always

I have always treasured life, no matter how difficult it became.
I knew life was not just physical, and that carried me, with no need of fame.
In this state of mind, you understand where it’s all going,
And with fame or without it, you’re grounded solid and not just blowing

As A Child

People forget they were once children when they get grown
And get married and have children of their own.
Oh, it’s not the children’s “size” that it’s all about. You’ll find
It’s all those million little things that inhabit a child’s mind!

How Strong Is Gentle?

The gentle spirit can stoop down low and mend a broken wing –
Can guide a little child who is searching for its way back home.
It can offer the balm of love and peace to lost and broken hearts.

This infinitely gentle spirit can also rise and soar
Along the winds, beyond the mountains and among the stars
To renew the strength that is essential
For the quiet and gentle caring soul.

Every Day Is Mother’s Day

Every day is Mother’s Day when you’re a Mother!
Now, just before dawn, a new day approaches, another
Day given. And it happens to be Mother’s Day.
But then I think, “Each one is mine; I’m a Mother every day.”

If We’re Lucky!

We all, no doubt, have our own definition of this word, “Lucky.” Don’t you?
“Lucky” can mean a positive collection of life’s rewards. That’s my thought – not new.
Life’s equalizer, “lucky” comes in many forms to construe its true meaning to each.
As these incidents apply to us and our lives – it is attempting to teach!

Bolts of Clarity

Bolts of clarity like shocks of revelation have been descending
Upon me lately in mysterious ways. Like information ascending.
I have pondered events from the past, but it was so vague and obscure,
I just stuck it in a file in my mind, figuring I was way past finding a cure.

A Special Approach

Show me ten different people and ten different situations
And I’ll show you ten different opinions and ten different solutions.
Only as we can merge the reasons with the reasonings
Can we gain the sought-after accommodations and the pleasing

The Daredevil

Daredevil is a misnomer which describes those with the nerve to risk
Their everything to appear the ultimate in bravery. They insist
They’re strong, brave, fearless and foolhardy for they ignore the odds!
And, it’s evident they sometimes lose. They’re not invincible Gods.

Straddle Your Own Saddle

This may be one way of telling your counterparts that you’ll play the game.
As life points out, no two horses are the same, some wild, some tame.
Riders vary also. Purposes differ, so no one method serves all.
Probably not even the way you ride nor the way you fall.

The Saddest Words

I always feel that to say “goodbye” is among the saddest words
That are ever spoken in this life, in this world.
And saddest of all is losing a loved one; it leaves such an empty place,
To know that we’ll never again look upon their smiling face.

Where The Spirit Dances Free

When you smile I detect a twinkling in your dancing eyes;
Reminds me of a sunny day with glorious golden skies.
Often these displays of joyful living depart with youth.
The quest for physical survival diminishes our natural joy in truth.
