What About Me?

I have a young great-grandson; age about two-and-a-half.
He’s cute and handsome, and even more, can always make you laugh.
His older brother is six now, which makes two-and-a-half seem a baby.
But he keeps up pretty well and whenever there’s a maybe —

He stands up tall and in his most imposing voice
Asks, “Well, what about me?” and we take notice and rejoice.
His natural sense of self wants you to recognize
That though he’s slightly later, he’s a very worthwhile guy.

What a wonderful take on life – he’ll never accept ‘less than’
And he’ll give his best to do his best — part of his inborn plan!
He’s never jealous but just keeps reaching to make a ‘showing’
All the while being fully aware of exactly where he’s going.
