Just One Rose Left

Just One Rose Left

We were taking photos on the front lawn when next door
I spied one lone peach-colored rose upon a trellis by the door.
I couldn’t believe there would only be just one rose,
And I commented to my family. The story of that rose – that no one knows.

There once was a happy family living there for many years.
They survived all marriage problems and everyday cares.
They had worked long and hard to make that house a home
But now it stood alone, looking so empty and all alone.

No living one to tend or care about this house with only one sweet rose
Just emitting beauty, peace, love and a memory of earthly woes.
It was saying in its emanations that “love and peace once lived here
But I’ll come back once a year to help dry memories’ tears.”
